Epiphany and the end of this season's Christmastide
Just wanted to wish all of you a very blessed twelfth night as we reach the end of Christmastime. Being born and growing up in Texas I had many Mexican-American friends who celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany on the 6th with a Rosca de Reyes round cake that has a baby figurine baked inside who represents Jesus (and the same is common in Louisiana). Even though I'm in Florida now, I'm going to try and see what celebrations and/or mass I can find in the evening.
I would love to hear what y'all know about Epiphany or anything else about Christmastide in general (especially any traditions past or present). And it would be great to hear about anything y'all do this Epiphany! God bless!
Thankyou for sharing.
I went to a Twelfth Night party. Food and games 🥳.
There was talk of a bean in a cake tradition.
Here are some traditions associated with Twelfth Night cake:
Hidden bean or pea A dried bean or pea is baked into the cake, and whoever finds it becomes the "King" or "Queen" of Twelfth Night for the rest of the night.
